He graduated from the Kharkiv State Academy of Culture in 2008, majoring in “Theatre Arts,” and received the qualification of “Director of Drama Theatre, Teacher.”
Since 2008, he has been working as a director at our theatre, and in 2017 he became the theatre’s Chief Director.
In 2014, he joined the Department of Acting at the Kharkiv State Academy of Culture as a lecturer, where he teaches the discipline “Acting Mastery” and serves as a course curator.
He has directed a wide range of productions for children, teenagers, and adult audiences, including “Little Red Riding Hood,” “The House of Bernarda Alba,” “Nazar Stodolia,” “The Secret of the Snow Queen,” “The White Crow,” and others.
The performances directed by Andrii Lebid are more than mere stagings of plays — they are holistic artistic statements, rich in meaning and layered in interpretation. He does not strive for a literal reproduction of the text but rather uses it as a springboard for his own creative vision, boldly reimagining classical plots and skillfully deconstructing contemporary dramatic works. His directing style masterfully combines traditional theatrical techniques with innovative experimentation — playing with space, light, sound, and, of course, the art of acting.
Yet, in all his works, Lebid remains true to his unique artistic style. His productions are always vivid and memorable, encouraging audiences to reflect, to reconsider familiar stories, and to see the modern world from a new perspective. He is unafraid to experiment with forms, genres, and theatrical techniques, constantly searching for new expressive means to convey his ideas to the audience on a deep emotional level. His performances are not mere entertainment, but encounters with art that linger long after the curtain falls — thought-provoking and emotionally resonant experiences.
This is confirmed by his ever-growing audience of admirers who eagerly await each new production by the master.
