The children’s fairy tale “The Golden Chick” by Volodymyr Orlov, brought to life by the Kharkiv Theater for Children and Youth, is all about this! Every step we take is a consequence of our previous actions. Even the Fox and the Wolf could not imagine the surprises life had in store for them…
The pair – the Fox and the Wolf – stole Hen Ryaba so she would lay golden eggs for them. But the Wolf lost the hen and had to hatch the egg himself.
The stolen golden egg turned out to be a surprise for everyone. It revealed the true nature of each character. In some, cunning and cruelty; in others, a loving parent’s “golden heart”… And the little creature senses it immediately, because in childhood everything is simple – black and white, good and evil… Happiness comes when good triumphs!
Did you know? There is a theory that a chick considers the first being it sees as its “mother”… In our case, this honor went to Dad – the Wolf… Meanwhile, the Fox seems to have fooled only herself.
By the way, it was for this very phrase, according to the idea of the director and chief artist of the theater, Arkadii Chadov, that 11 golden and 39 colorful balloons were inflated. The head of HTDY personally demonstrated how the Fox tried to trick everyone, using a balloon instead of an egg. These were all jokes, but the performance turned out to be touching and instructive.
Special mention should be made of the musical component of the production, as composer Yevhenii Varapayev personally noted. He emphasized that the music and songs in the play will be further improved for the new showing of the fairy tale, but the main idea will remain unchanged – positive ideals, because even during war, one must think about life afterwards.
“Instead of hip-hoppers, the director got romantic rockers. It became a real rock fairy tale, where the father has a guitar and the son plays the ukulele,” the composer added with a smile.
The performance ended with thunderous applause and the invitation of the director, Andrii Lebid, to the stage, where he introduced those who had worked to bring his vivid vision to life.
